Bedford Broadway Bound

According to an article on CBC's website, the 2009 Stratford production of The Importance of Being Earnest is heading to Broadway. Director-actor Brian Bedford (right) will reprise both roles as director and Lady Bracknell with the Roundabout Theatre Company (currently staging Noel Coward's Present Laughter with Canadian actor Victor Garber). Mr. Bedford will be joined by some of the original Stratford cast and members of the Roundabout company; as yet casting is unannounced.

What's been happening?

What's been happening in the world of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival?

On the heels of the wonderful news that Christopher Plummer has been nominated for an Oscar, came the very sad news that Stratford alum Lindsay Thomas (right), age 31, lost her battle with lung cancer. It was all the more tragic, since the bright actress-singer-dancer was a non-smoker.

General Manager Antoni Cimolino appeared on TVO's The Agenda, speaking about the relevancy of Shakespeare in today's world, and Artistic Director Des McAnuff is in the media spotlight, with interviews on CBC Radio 1, a spot on Bravo!
